Dr Adri Erebara (Agricultural University of Tirana) was hosted by the University of Molise fora short-term scientific mission (STSM) in October 2025.
The STSM aimed to advance carbon monitoring techniques relevant to socio-ecological sustainability. The research focused on assessing soil organic carbon (SOC) in Albanian coastal wetlands to better understand carbon storage and sequestration processes. A key component involved the assessment of SOC prediction through Vis-NIR spectroscopy (usinga Jasco V-570 spectrophotometer), evaluating its efficiency in generating insights into carbon sequestration potential and implications for climate mitigation and hazard resilience.
This work contributed to refining methodological approaches for carbon assessment and strengthening the scientific basis for sustainable management of blue carbon habitats. The collaboration between the Agricultural University of Tirana and the University of Molise was highly productive in fostering knowledge exchange and laying the groundwork for future collaboration on soil carbon dynamics and coastal wetland sustainability.
