Prof Merim Kasumovic (University of Tuzla, Boxnia and Herzegovina) visited the University of Osijek in Croatia as part of a Rethink Blue short term scientific mission.
The goal of the research was to identify industrial and non-industrial organizations participating in environmental sustainability of the blue economy. Moreover, it was crucial to identify the main reasons and obstacles to participate in the blue economy as a member state of the European Union, as a country with large coastal access, and to compare the obtained results with the regulations in Bosnia and Herzegovina (a country with little coastal access).
Comparative analysis of the government systems and policy instruments of potential blue economy implementation in Bosnia and Croatia provided constructive results in the area of local, regional, national, international level and enabled to propose new approaches. Based on the research results and positive practice, specific roles and levels of involvement of relevant stakeholders on all levels of governance could be identified.
