Earlier this year, Dr. Amit Sharma (Tallinn University of Technology) was hosted at the Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute as part of a Rethink Blue short term scientific mission (STSM). Dr. Sharma was hosted by Senior Researcher Dr. Gesa Praetorius.
The STSM focused on analyzing qualitative data from semi-structured Applied Cognitive Task Analysis (ACTA) interviews, aimed at understanding Remote Pilotage Operations in maritime domains and contrasting it with conventional pillotage. The goal was to identify cognitive demands, decision bottlenecks, and design implications for remote control of vessels from shore. VTI offers specialized expertise in human factors and transportation safety research, providing an ideal environment to analyze these interviews in-depth using both inductive and structured approaches.
