Carla Gonçalves carried out a short-term scientific mission (STSM) on behalf of the RethinkBlue Cost Action, entitled “The governance of the coastal region in Portugal: landscape as a catalyst for change”.
Carla Gonçalves told us:
“The grant I received played a pivotal role in enabling my participation and presentation at the AESOP Congress, a relevant event in the field of spatial planning with over 1,177 participants from 55 countries. Presenting my work (The governance of the coastal region in Portugal: landscape as a catalyst for change) in the session “Planning for Coastal Regions” provided unparalleled visibility among leading academics, practitioners, and policymakers. The constructive feedback I received during and after my presentation was invaluable, offering fresh perspectives and critical insights that will strengthen my research as I near the conclusion of my PhD.”
“Beyond the presentation, the congress served as a dynamic platform for networking. Engaging with researchers and policymakers in formal and informal settings, as well as attending events such as the AESOP Young Academic Network social gathering, allowed me to build meaningful connections with peers and established professionals. These exchanges fostered discussions about shared interests, ideas for future collaborations, and the potential to contribute to broader initiatives like the COST Action CA22122.”
