The Port of Koper and the Shell Dune: A Confluence of Actors in the North Adriatic

The Port of Koper and the Shell Dune: A Confluence of Actors in the North Adriatic

Earlier this year, Nataša Rogelja Caf participated in the Mare Conference, entitled People and the Sea, as part of a Rethink Blue short term scientific mission. She presented during the conference.

The paper was presented in the panel titled “Ports: Memories and Futures.” It discussed the occurrence of a shell dune in Ankaran, Slovenia, in the vicinity of the port of Koper, and the overflow of actors, actions, and ideas related to the shell dune and the port.

This links with the topic of WG3 project RethinkBlue, focusing on port cities and coastal communities, recognizing the connections between ports and different actors involved, and trying to understand how coastal cities and communities balance economic growth with environmental protection.
